ANDHAKASUR-SUDAN
Below is the purport of Andhakasur-sudan in the words of Acharya Bhaskar—
लीलया जगदम्बया पिहितेषु ते नयनेष्यभू-
दन्धकारत एव यः स तु भैरवेण निषूदितः।
तादृशः कृपया पुनः शिव गाणपत्यमवापितः
प्रेमवानपि नामतः पुनरन्धकारसूदनः॥
During playful mood your eyes were covered by Divine mother Jagadambika and it caused dense darkness all around the three worlds. A demon namely Andhakasura was born out of that darkness. Though he was defeated by Bhairon ji, but when he prayed for your mercy then ignoring his inferior nature you placed him at the dignified rank of your personal associate. You are called as Andhakasur-sudan as you are kind even for the demons like Andhaka.
God is never annoyed with any individual, he dislikes only the mischievous deeds of a person. If he realizes his faults and shifts to corrections, then Shiva accept him with intimacy.
The story of Andhakasur is widely mentioned in Yudhakhand section of Rudrasamhita in Shiva Purana. A person becomes a demon when he transcends the basic codes of conduct, and when he forgets Mahadeva. The arrogance aroused from excessive pleasures is actually spotted as Andhaka.
According to Rahasya Vidya the darkness of ignorance is Andhaka, who makes everybody blind. In the form of a fierce demon he tries to cover Lord Mahadeva, who is self-effulgent. Then Lord Shankar destroys this demon in the form of Guru (Spiritual Master) and Vedas (Scriptures). Seeking for the means to destroy the ignorance is the true form of worship of Andhakasur-sudan.
